Buying from local artists

You know many people like to buy art from the big name artists because they feel it is the thing to do. I understand the fascination but too often the amount of money for what you get is not worth the price. Unless you’re paying high figures for the art many times you are buying a print. This may carry some value depending on the artist but usually does not carry enough to call the purchase an investment. Why not buy from a local artist. Not only is the art original, but you have something that will grow as the artist does in value and even better you can connect with that artist creating an even better bond. Purchasing art is much more than just enjoying the colours. Find out what makes the artist tick, why they painted the piece the way they did, etc. That will bring more value to you and your purchase. if you’re looking for local art the Oakville Art Society is holding their annual art auction on June 12th, 2010.
