Spring Creek Carriers Equipment Cartoon-Cartoon of the Week

Spring-Creek-Equipment-Ad-Image

The Story Behind the Cartoon

As many of you know I have been in the transportation industry for over 30 years and do a lot of cartooning work for clients to help them market their business. This cartoon was done for my friends over at Spring Creek Carriers for a recruiting campaign. They have great equipment, but many companies don’t unfortunately and wanted to show off the company’s equipment in a humorous way. This was the final image for their postcard campaign. If you are looking for a job in trucking, check out Spring Creek Carriers.

Killin’ Time Band Video- Cartoon of the Week

Story Behind the Cartoon

I thought since it was Sound of Music 2017 in Burlington Ontario this week I would honour this great festival and band with a music cartoon. This caricature / cartoon was done of two of the members of The Killin’ Time Band here in Burlington Ontario. The band lends their amazing talent and music to both of my podcasts and this was done as a little thank you to the band for being so kind with their talent. I put together a video like this for one of the other bands that also lend their music to the shows and thought it was a great idea to thank all of the bands. If you haven’t got yours yet you will!

So I have taken the video of how I created the caricature, some pictures of events where I have seen the band, and added one of my favourite songs called One Set to Freedom off their album of the same name. They are a truly awesome band and I am happy to say I have gone from fan to friend as I have learned more about the band over the years. If you have a chance to see the band make sure you do, you won’t be disappointed. If you would like to see their schedule or buy their music please visit www.killintimeband.com. If you would like to hear the interview I conducted with Brad Hails of the band please visit cashinginoncreativitypodcast.com.

A big thank you to the band and enjoy the song.

Can I See Your Log Book-Cartoon of the Week

Log Book cartoon by Bruce Outridge

The Story Behind the Cartoon

Log books are documents bounded into a book that every truck driver going over a certain distance has to fill out. In fact in most of the areas of transportation from trucks to buses and airplanes this is a mandatory requirement. For most companies in the trucking industry this is where most of the fines come from as some drivers fill them out incorrectly, cheat, or down right lie. In June across North America inspection stations will inspect trucks and be asking for this document. This cartoon has the inspector asking for the log book and some drivers feel as though they have the right to have an attitude about being asked. This will never go well for the driver, but certainly makes for a good cartoon scenario. This illustration is some of my older work that was done traditionally with a very tight inking style.

Enjoy the cartoon! Been there done that!

The Future of Trucking-Cartoon of the Week

The-Future-of-Trucking-cartoon

The Story Behind the Cartoon

Do you ever get tired of people saying, “There’s an app for that!” when asking them a question? For a while when smart phones first came out that was all you heard. I wonder if we will ever get to a place when bosses aren’t required anymore because people will just go to their apps when they need help? Here is one vision of how they may be used in the trucking industry. Enjoy!

How to Remain Jobless! Cartoon of the Week

How to remain jobless cartoon

The Story Behind the Cartoon

The trucking industry is having a hard time finding people to fill the seats. part of it is the way the industry has structured itself and the other is the way the new generation is viewing employment. we find people come into interviews with so many demands we can’t offer them employment. I created this cartoon to outline this situation. The cartoon was previously published in Ontario Trucking Magazine.

The Waiting Room-Cartoon of the Week

The-Waiting-Room-Cartoon

Story Behind the Cartoon

As a truck driver it isn’t unusual for drivers to have long periods of time waiting to unload their trucks. Often you are huddled into a room with little explanation as to why things are taking so long. There have been times in my  career where I felt this could happen. Hopefully it won’t happen to you. Enjoy!

The Story Behind the Cartoon

Have you ever been so excited to get started on a project and you totally forgot about everything else? I have so many projects going on in my head that I jump out of bed and can’t wait to get started. Now that the world is heading more towards video not taking a minute to make sure you are fully dressed may cause you to show more about yourself than you normally would. Now that the weathers turning nicer golfers will be getting ready to hit the courses if they haven’t already. Every year I feel I should be having a talk with my golf balls much like my kids before an outing. These golf balls just like kids of course don’t listen either. Oh well, happy golfing!

What’s in Your Closet-Cartoon of the Week

What's-In-your-Closet

The Story Behind the Cartoon

In trucking things build up over time as we run down the road and accumulate things. Spring is a great time to clean things out getting ready for the show season. People who are unorganized often don’t want to get into trying to clean out their closet. In this case they will try to avoid the task. It won’t help you as much as cleaning out your own closet. I hope that makes sense.
