I am known for cartooning but offer a number of art styles and have taught classes on many of them depending on needs and availability. Since caricatures and cartooning is my main focus you will find I have a lot of information on how to do that style of art in particular. Most of those classes are of interest to schools, libraries, and art centres who would like workshops on cartoons, creating comic strips, drawing caricatures and more. That being said I do have a lot of work in landscapes, animal portraits, and vehicle art. Mediums that I prefer to teach range from pen and ink to digital media such as iPads and tablets. If you would like to discuss what may interest your group please contact me and we can discuss it.
There are three types of art instruction depending on your location, needs, and budget. I will start with the most expensive options and work down so keep reading depending on where you are.
I offer private lessons within 60kms of Burlington Ontario for in person instruction. Fees range from $50 and up depending on mediums required, lessons booked, and requirements. Lessons are booked based upon schedule availability and must be paid for at the time of booking. I am happy to work with anyone that is seven years of age or older including adults as long as you are serious about the lessons and art. Please contact us for availability and pricing by clicking here or calling 289-337-2630
Most of my classes are for kids specializing in the genre of cartoons. I teach for a number of agencies in the Southern Ontario area and if a class interests you please register directly with them. Classes range from 2-40 people and are set by the organization putting on the class and they also set the pricing for each attendant. Course of interest to most organizations for kids are Cartooning, How to Draw, Pen & Ink, Watercolour, and Digital Media. Classes are listed on the website as they are booked. If you would like to be notified of new classes then I suggest you signing up for our newsletter that is sent out each month with upcoming classes. Get the Bruce Outridge Production’s Newsletter
On the website are a number of free videos, blog posts, and information that you can view and work on areas that are of interest to you. The posts are divided up by interest. You can view drawing, painting, Sketch Walks (Plein Air Videos), studio information and other cool information. I try to add instructional information on a monthly basis so check back often or sign up for the newsletter to keep in the loop. Get the Bruce Outridge Production’s Newsletter

“We first met Bruce last year when he was teaching our son at the summer classes held by the Oakville Art Society. We were impressed by his good humour, patience, and expertise in many fields relating to art.
Subsequently we engaged Bruce as a private tutor in art at our home. Again, we were amazed by his ability to motivate a twelve year-old. The difference between the artwork our son has produced before and after working with Bruce is like the difference between MacDonald’s food and eating at the Ritz! Our son is really proud of what he can do now, and so are we.”

“It has been my pleasure to know Bruce for a number of years. Warm and personable, he shares his enthusiasm and knowledge in illustration and cartooning with his students –he awakens their interest to both drawing and observation and is always in demand for teaching teens and youths.
Bruce is committed to providing the opportunity to participate creatively in visual arts, to appreciate artistic expression, and to expand individual imagination”.
Mary Druissi – Oakville Art Society Director of Classes
Additional Comment: Both the classes were excellent, the children enjoyed learning from Bruce and then creating their own pictures. Bruce keeps the children entertained whilst they learn. He maintains control of the classes and keeps everyone involved. Bruce integrated the physical drawing and the new technologies for drawing into the iPad. We would certainly like Bruce to continue offering these courses to OPL.
