Is This Your Hobby? Check out the weekend life of a caricature artist!

Many times at events people are amazed that entertainers and artists are busy doing what they love. If I tell them I have two events they seem amazed and often the first comment is, “Is this your hobby?” In reality any professional artists are busy people especially on weekends. Hey if you can make your money in a weekend it leaves you open all week to do other things. So I thought I would share a glimpse of what a weekend is like for a caricature artist.

Saturday 9:00am

I headed up to Guelph Ontario for an event promoting a new Walmart Superstore. I worked with the staff there as they promoted selected items and had people get there caricature drawn to help create a festive wedding event pictureatmosphere.

Saturday 3:30pm

At this point I left the Walmart event to head to Mississauga, Ontario to draw guests at a wedding event from 6:30pm to 10:00pm where I drew around 60 people. I reached home at 11:00pm quite tired from the day.

Sunday 10:30am

On Sunday I drove 1.5 hours to draw for a one year old birthday party in the beautiful town on Brooklin Ontario. After that three hour event I met people for dinner and headed home for the weekend. Over the weekend we drew around 180 caricatures of people and made many laugh with great discussion and entertainment. So if you think artists are just sitting around doing nothing all day, you are sadly mistaken.

Thank you to Walmart, Par-T-Perfect West, the Moore family, and the Canterero’s for having me out to their great events.
