I know it is February and you may be more interested in staying in bed with a good book with Winter weather like we are currently having here in Canada. So I am hoping this article may warm you as much as inspire you to try getting outside and enjoying the world of art. I am talking about Sketch Walks which are a mix of Plein Air Drawing and enjoying the beauty of a specific area. If the temperatures are not arctic worthy it is possible to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Here is a Sketch Walk I did in Winter to prove I have done it.
Sketch Walks are a great way to get the family involved in art or another person that shares your interest in the outdoors. You can have someone as the camera person, various artists, and even someone to script it and possibly edit it later. This makes for wonderful memories that can be reviewed later and enjoyed by the whole family.
Need to know how to prepare for a Sketch Walk?
If you don’t feel like going on a Sketch Walk or have any artistic skills then I have one more option for you. My wife Carmen and I spend time in the Caribbean each year during the winter and I do several Sketch Walks each time I am there. Many know me as the caricature artist, but when I started my art business back in 2003 I was doing fine art so now much of that work is my relaxation that I do on vacation. So if you don’t want to create your own art and would like to gather some warmth from our travels in Barbados.
