Hiding Construction with the Beauty of Art

Art is a beautiful thing, we all know that. In fact when a community has lost it’s way and becomes a place where no one wants to live The Arts are used to bring the community back. Places like Parkdale in Toronto or Downtown Detroit have all used art to kick start the community. Introduce art based businesses, then coffee shops, then apartments, and restaurants and you can revive a whole city. It’s been done many times.

This came to mind as I walked down a board walk in the Caribbean many times. Usually there has been a building that has been torn down and nothing done with it, but I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that a temporary art gallery has appeared this year. This gallery is a mix of art from children’s art to professional portraits. The art has been photographed and the prints installed on wood all the same size. It looks amazing and is hiding the construction of a new hotel which could take years. Art does it again.
