Summer’s coming, well eventually anyway and it’s time to start thinking about that outdoor company picnic. It’s funny we see trends in our business and can almost dictate as to when people will begin to book their events. The larger the event the more time you will need prepare and organize it. As someone who specializes in weddings and corporate event entertainment we often get booked long in advance. Weddings generally book a year out and corporate events around the six month mark. That means you should be thinking about your Christmas party in June, UUGH, What a thought!
Over the last year we have seen a trend where people are waiting until what we call the last minute to book entertainment even for large events. We have been getting bookings for weddings within one month of the event which is very late. Why should you book early for your entertainment?
Entertainers are busy and the better they are the more you will find them booking longer ahead. Quality entertainment can make or break your party so don’t go by price on this one. I have worked with entertainers that are just looking for a quick buck. They arrive late with the wrong equipment and still leave early. They get flustered and don’t do their best work which reflects on your guests that are there to enjoy a great event. Quality comes at a price. The problem is that quality entertainers may not be top of mind. They often don’t need to advertise as much as others as they get booked directly out of events via word of mouth so when you do hear about them and try to book them they are already booked. We currently have bookings into late 2025 in our calendar. We generally don’t book more than a year and a half out but we do get the requests for up to two years. Other popular entertainers are similar such as DJs, photo booths, and the like.
I can’t speak for other entertainers but one thing I tell everyone is that it is a small deposit to hold a date in the calendar depending on the location of your event. So get that date nailed down especially if it a popular day such as a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Details can be workout later as far setup, location, or length of service required. Quality entertainment will make you look good as the party planner allowing for your guests to have the ultimate experience. Hope to see you at your next event!
