Have you noticed Christmas seems to be starting earlier every year? I swear we just finished Halloween and Christmas messages and advertisements are already being shown everywhere. Is that retailers trying to extend the shopping season or are people already focusing in on the Christmas Season already? I mean I have already seen Mariah Carey singing and to me she signals the start of the Christmas Season.
As much as I don’t like Christmas before December 1st the season has begun whether we want it to or not. We have been getting booked for Christmas parties since September and the calendar is filling up quickly. It is amazing how many people are looking for those key Saturday nights so it is wise to get started if you are booking Holiday entertainment.
Booking for Christmas can be like shopping at the mall, one big rush! Here are some things you may want to think about when booking your party entertainment:
Have the date, time required, and location of the event ready when booking your event.
Most entertainers take a deposit to hold the date so get in their calendar early.
It isn’t unusual for entertainers to have more than one event on a day so know your start time.
If you are looking for multiple entertainers such as caricature artist and DJ you may want to ask if people work together. Some entertainers pair up for larger events.
Don’t have too much entertainment or you may be wasting money, think about audience attention. We often see people hire a caricature artist and also have a magic show. You’re wasting money with the caricature artist. Schedule your entertainment to get the best value for your money.
Make sure you know how much space is needed for each performer. Many performers may have lineups for their entertainment so account for lines, equipment, and more with each performer.
