Welcome to January, cold, dark, and dreary. Yesterday it was announced in our local news that January 21st is the most depressing day of the year, the bills are in, the money is out, and everyone seems depressed or sick with the flu. To me there is no better time to regroup, focus, and figure out what you want. Part of me likes when business is slow so I can focus on the bigger picture, the other half of me likes to be busy because I like money and people. I already know that January is my slowest month so I try to use my time wisely. Taking time to look at what is bringing in the work gives you a unique focus that many people don’t have or take time to look at.
We began to offer video production a couple of years ago and looking at our numbers from last year it was a real money maker for us. We began investing in equipment and now have most of what we need to offer cost effective video. Since that service started all most by accident, we wouldn’t have invested in equipment if it didn’t look like an avenue worth pursuing. We’ve decided to move more to the corporate market where work may be steadier over the long run. So use the dreary days to create a new outlook for yourself and your business. It may make your day the best it has ever been?
