Every caricature artist struggles with making people feel comfortable in the chair when drawing them. I can see the tension in their eyes as they sit down and I often think to myself why did they even line up. So what should the artist do to make someone feel comfortable? First-smile! Smiling is the first way to help someone calm down. Second-ask about them! If you ask people where they live or if they are visiting it creates a point to start a conversation. Talking to people helps them feel comfortable. It works for me and it will work for you. Try it!
