This was a very different wedding and I am sure the Bride had wished that the World Series had ended the day before in Game 6. I was drawing for Leah and Jonathan’s wedding in Owen Sound Ontario. This was to be a special day and was until the Baseball Game started.
I was in a separate room from the dinner and dancing area, being located in the bar area and guests would flow in and out as they wanted a caricature or needed a drink. It was suggested that they put the Game on and a projector was brought in to display the game on the wall. It was a small wedding of only 75 people so after a few hours of drawing most of the guests had been drawn and around 9:30pm the line dried up. That’s when things got really interesting!
As the game became more intense people began to gather in the bar area to watch the game. My caricature stand slowly got taken over as guests watched the game to the point that the DJ was the only one in the main ballroom playing dance hits trying to get the crowd back. In fact the Bride went to bed before the guests left. Unfortunately the Jays didn’t win but everyone stayed in the room until the late night ending, even me as I couldn’t get my equipment out.
It certainly was an interesting wedding but all still had a good time.
