I had a real awkward moment at a recent wedding while drawing caricatures at the St Regis Hotel in Toronto Ontario. I was set to draw caricatures for Hardeep and Percy’s wedding at the luxurious St. Regis Hotel in Toronto Ontario. Heading into Toronto can be a nightmare on any given day so as usual I left with lots of time for traffic and other problems. To my surprise traffic moved well and I arrived at the St. Regis in what we would call record time. I was now almost three hours early for my official start time. Wanting to get a lay of the land I asked the front desk which floor the wedding was on? She didn’t know so I gave her the name of the Bride and Groom which she called right away, this I was not expecting. She was directed to send me to the fourteenth floor so put me on the elevator, swiped her card, and told me someone would be waiting.
I got off the elevator and waited for someone to meet me but no one showed up. I looked like a stocker waiting to commit a crime. Eventually I called my contact number and the couple answered. As we talked they said, “We can hear you.” As I looked around the corner there were the Bride and Groom poking their heads put of the door in their bathrobes. ( I wonder what I interrupted?) After apologizing many times the wedding continued a few hours later. All in all we had a great night and everyone had a great time. I guess the lesson here is make sure you have all the directions to where you’re going so you don’t have an awkward situation like this one.
