The Story Behind the Cartoon
This week’s cartoon is a caricature for the Trucking Industry. I gave a caricature to our first presenter for a seminar series in the trucking industry and it was a big hit so I decided I would do this for all the presenters for 2017. Our second presenter was presented with the gift at the seminar on September 12th 2017. Shelley is the CEO of the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada and was the keynote speaker for the event. Guests take over drawing at party!
My whole goal when drawing at events is to have as much fun as possible and that usually translates to the guests having fun as well. Every once in a while I get a guest who is an artist and are hovering over me watching every stroke so I try to entice them to take a shot. There has been a couple times when everyone was saying how good they are and I have to think if that was such a good idea to give them the marker. This happened at a party not to long ago and we couldn’t stop laughing. Even the kids got involved in drawing me. I guess I will know when I have been fired when the guests take over the drawing!

Giving someone a car as a gift!-Testimonial
Have you ever given someone a car as a gift? Well unless you are rich giving someone an actual car can be a real challenge. Why not take that exact sentiment and do the next best thing, give them a picture of their favourite car. I recently completed some car caricatures for a client of her husband’s favourite cars for his birthday. We did the illustrations and she had them printed and framed. If you want to do this in the future getting pictures over the Summer months is best and it makes great presents for Christmas. Sorry I had to say the “C” word. It may be the best way to give someone the car of their dreams.

Drawing the Reunion
We had some great events over the weekend. We helped West Credit High School celebrate 30 years educating students by drawing caricatures at their reunion. Judging by the crowd a lot of people went to school there. We also helped a beautiful lady celebrate her 40th birthday by drawing for her and her guests at her home dinner party. Thank you to all the events that had us out and we look forward to drawing you again sometime.

T-Shirt Design Goes Wacky!
As illustrators we get many different ideas to draw up for clients. I had had a client that gets a shirt design drawn up fro his buddies every year for the annual fishing trip. This year apparently to show the growing amount of wood used for the fire i was asked to draw up this idea. I never want to draw firewood again! Thank you to the Wacky Ass fishing group for an unusual illustration portfolio.

Creating memories with gift caricatures
With several events last week gift caricature production was steady and fast. Among the illustrations completed for clients were two completed for other reasons. The first was done for a guest speaker at an event and the other for my brother for his birthday. Both went over as a big success. Drawing the Danny Thompson Band
As many of you know I host a couple of podcasts, one for artists on how to grow and market their businesses and one for drivers in the trucking industry. I have always loved music and feature some local bands on each show as a way of supporting the arts and to showcase the great talent many of us have in our communities. As a thank you to the band I drew up a caricature of them and recently presented it to the band at a recent event held by the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada fundraiser. East Meets West in Wedding Bash!
It was like the East meets West at a recent wedding event I drew at last weekend. The Bride and Groom originally from Ontario had moved out to Manitoba years ago for a job opportunity. They are now starting a new life together after years out West in Ontario as they return to become husband and wife with new job opportunities. It was great to meet guests from Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba in this great event. All the best to Melissa and Matt as they start a new chapter of their lives together.
