The pen was sizzling recently as we drew caricatures of people from across the Province at events over the last month. With temperatures topping out at 40 degrees Celsius and the sun beating down it was challenging just to keep my markers from melting, in fact I had them put on ice during one event. Add to that the speed of drawing hundreds of people at each event and you can see that my markers were flying at a high rate of speed.
One of the great parts of drawing caricatures for events are the people that you meet. When we drew for Heather and Chris’s wedding we met amazing people from the Philippines. Now that was a fun wedding.
On Canada Day we drew for a family festival put on by the Paris Lions Club in Paris ON. We met a great lady from Barbados and many friends that lived in the area including a pirate named Captain Jack.
The next day we were drawing in Essex Ontario for the Sip and Shop Event at the Essex fair. This is one big party with duelling pianos, lots of wine, and a fun caricature entertainer, he he. Big shout out to the young guys that were trying to introduce people to the joys of recycling. I think they actually tried to pick up girls that way, go figure!
Three days later we were drawing for the Ridgeview Long Term Employee Appreciation Event in Stoney Creek Ontario. This was a Christmas in July staff appreciation event where I met Santa and Mrs.Claus on their way back from their Hawaiian vacation I think. The red suit would have been too hot!
What did these events have in common? All of these events were outside in 40 degree heat. So the pen was certainly sizzling. That being the case we still had a great time at the events and look forward to more great events this Summer. I hope you’re Summer is sizzling with excitement for you and your family.
