The Cancer Convoy-Cartoon of the Week

Breast-Cancer-Convoy-cartoon

The Story Behind the Cartoon

Since the folks at Trucking for a Cure are having their convoy in Woodstock Ontario this weekend I thought this cartoon would be appropriate. I completed this illustration for the group years ago for a convoy showing some of the participants that played a major role in those early years. If you get a chance to get out and participate then it is a great way to get the family involved. Here is a link to the convoy for more information. www.truckingforacure.com

Caricature artist helps welcome new university students-Testimonial

The last few years I have help the University of Toronto welcome their new students starting school at their Mississauga campus. This year they had a street party and I was drawing caricatures all night. It is fun to talk to the students and find out how they see their future.

Here is what the client had to say:

Name or Company: UTM Student HousingService provided: Live caricature entertainment

How was your booking experience?: Excellent

How was your project/event experience?: Excellent
Additional Comment: Bruce was great! The students were super excited, it was definitely one of the key parts of our event

Caricaturing Shelley Uvanile-Hesch of WTFC-Cartoon of the Week

SHELLEY-CARICATURE

The Story Behind the Cartoon

This week’s cartoon is a caricature for the Trucking Industry. I gave a caricature to our first presenter for a seminar series in the trucking industry and it was a big hit so I decided I would do this for all the presenters for 2017. Our second presenter was presented with the gift at the seminar on September 12th 2017. Shelley is the CEO of the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada and was the keynote speaker for the event. Thank you to Shelley for a great presentation. Here are a few pics from the event.

A career influenced by Marvin-Cartoon of the Week

The Story Behind the Cartoon

If you look back on your career it is interesting to see how those early influences have played apart in life. One of my favourite cartoons from the age of around 12 was Marvin by Tom Armstrong. The strip is still available to this day and I used to copy the cartoons out of the paper. Here is one scene from a strip that I copied at the age of thirteen or so. This was how I learned to draw. Thank you to Tom Armstrong and many other great artists for playing a part in my career to this day. Enjoy!

The License-Cartoon of the Week

License-cartoon by Bruce Outridge

The Story Behind the Cartoon

This cartoon came from a joke I heard over the radio one day from the DJ at the time who would read a joke each morning. I believe I was in Timmins or somewhere driving my truck when it came over and at my next stop I jotted the idea down on my note pad. Years later it became a cartoon. Sorry I couldn’t give credit to the person that told me the joke, but it is funny. Moral of the story never let kids play in your purse. Enjoy!

Guests take over drawing at party!

My whole goal when drawing at events is to have as much fun as possible and that usually translates to the guests having fun as well. Every once in a while I get a guest who is an artist and are hovering over me watching every stroke so I try to entice them to take a shot. There has been a couple times when everyone was saying how good they are and I have to think if that was such a good idea to give them the marker. This happened at a party not to long ago and we couldn’t stop laughing. Even the kids got involved in drawing me. I guess I will know when I have been fired when the guests take over the drawing!

Here are some pictures of the budding artists

The Interview-Cartoon of the Week

Media cartoon

The Story Behind the Cartoon

As someone who is not only an artist but entrepreneur with podcasts and now a television show I have interviewed hundreds of people. Some people get nervous as soon as the camera is rolling or the microphone is on. People prepare for the deep in-depth questions but very often mess up on the basics like their name. With that in mind this cartoon was born. Enjoy!

The Social Media Rant-Cartoon of the Week

Social-Media-Driver-Cartoon

The Story of the Week

Everyday I see so many rants on social media and I often think to myself you’re just killing your career. People think that talking on social media is like talking over a cup of coffee. It may be the same but it is the same as having that rant over coffee with a news anchor and cameraman listening in. Be careful what you say, it could haunt you forever.

A Day at the Beach-Cartoon of the Week

A Day at the Beach Cartoon

The Story Behind the Cartoon

As a lover of the beach in the Caribbean we often see this scenario happening. Parents just want to take a break and lie on the beach so they hand their cell phones to the kids to play games and keep them quiet. The problem is when they fall into a deep sleep the kids are actually calling China. I think the kids may have the real advantage as they already have a plan in place as to what ransom they will need to keep quiet and stay put.  Enjoy your Summer!
